Issues/Disposition: This was a jobsite accident case wherein the plaintiff was seriously injured when a piece of refractory fell on his left hand. Plaintiff alleged his left hand was crushed and sought medical reimbursement and loss of future wage earnings in excess of $1,000,000. After numerous trial continuances, the case went to binding arbitration. The arbitrator’s award was less than half of what had been offered at mediation.
